ちくしょうっ 、 ひとりだけ 余裕な 顔しおってぇーっ！

How dare you → "よくも！"

dareは"あえて～する"という意味

rest of → 残りの

damm you → こんちくしょう

Kagami:
Hey! I'm here now.
おーす、 きたよ。

Tsukasa:
Oh, hiya Sis.
あ、　 お 姉ちゃん。

hiya → やぁ

Konata:
I just thought of something.
You always come here to hang out.
What's the deal?
Don't you have any friends from your own class?
ふと 思ったんだけど、かがみ って、 よく ここに 遊びにくるけど、
クラス に 友達いないの ？

hang out → うろうろする、出入りする

deal → "取引"という意味があるが、俗語的意味で"現状"、"状況"というのがある。

よってWhat's the deal は"どういう状況なの？"という意味になる

Kagami:
Unlike you, I have friends.
Are you trying to pick a fight?
あんたと いっしょに するな 、 ケンカ 売ってんのか？

unlike → likeの否定版

pick a fight → 喧嘩を売る

Konata:
No, I just thought they were avoiding you, is all.
何だ、 てっきり ハブ られてるのかと。

avoid → 避ける

is all → "それだけだよ"というニュアンスなので、ここでは"～と思っただけだよ"となる

Kagami:
Why don't you worry about yourself for a change,
and get to work on those social skills?
人の 心配より 、 社交性ゼロ の 自分を 心配しなさいよ。

for a change → "気晴らしに"、"たまには"という意味で使われる。

(例) I want to eat curry, for a change (たまにはカレーを食べたい)

Konata:
Social skills?
What are you talking about?
See, even though I look like this, I've got about a hundred friends.
Both my social and my bargaining skills are actually pretty high.
Oh, and I go to parties every night.
それなら 心配ないよ。
こう 見えても 友達は 百人近くいるし、
社交性、 取引とかの スキル は 結構高いし、
パーティー には 毎晩参加してるし。

See → "ほらね"のようなニュアンス

even though → たとえ～でも

bargain → "売買契約"、"取引"

Kagami:

ally → 味方

strive to → ～しようと努力する

restore → 復活させる

ruin → 破滅

Kagami:
Wait, you're talking about a game!
...って 、 それ ゲーム の 話だろっ！

Konata:
Oh yeah, I haven't seen that guy in a while...
近頃見てないな 、 あの 人。

in a while → しばらくの間

Tsukasa:
What guy?
誰？

Kagami:
She's talking about one of her game buddies.
ゲーム 内の 友人の 話でしょ。

buddy → バディー、相棒

Konata:
Hm, he's a warrior-class character, who wanted to improve his hand-to-hand combat skills.
He left to train somewhere else where there's lots of monsters, but hasn't come back yet.
うん 、 武人系の キャラ なんだけど、
戦闘スキル を 上げるからって モンスター の 多いエリア で 修行してくるって 行ったきり なんだ。

warrior → 戦士

hand-to-hand → 至近距離の

combat → 戦闘

train → 修行する

Tsukasa:
Oh.

Konata:
I heard from someone else that he's camping out in one of the underground caverns.
I wonder if he's all right though, being all cooped up down there like that?
Everyone's worried about him.

別の人から 聞いたら 、 地下の 巣穴で 張り込んでるらしくて、大丈夫かな …？
閉じ籠もりっぱなしてて 、 みんな 心配してるんだよね。

camp out → キャンプ生活をする

cavern → 洞窟

,being → 分詞構文が使われていて、カンマの前後の文を一つにまとめている。

分解すると下記の通りになる

cooped up → 閉じ込もっている、窮屈な

Kagami:
How do you get cooped up in a game?
ゲーム 内で 閉じ籠もり ？

get cooped up → get + 形容詞で "～という状態になる"という意味なので、この文は"どのようにゲームの中で閉じこもるという状態になったの？"と訳せる

Konata:
Trust me, it happens.
I don't know, but by the looks of his login info, he's been playing the game nonstop for days.
詳しくは 分からないけど、
ログイン 状況から 察するに ずぅーっと ゲーム してるみたい だしさ。

trust me → "信じて"という意味。ただし会話などでよく使われる表現で、文頭にあっても命令形のように強い口調にはならない。

Kagami:
Cooped up in the real world too, huh!
リアル 、 バーチャル 共に閉じ籠もりかっ ！

Konata:
Whatever, it's the same guy in both worlds.
まあ 、 同じ人間の することだし。

Kagami:
I always wanted to ask you guys this. How'd the two of you become friends, anyway?
そういえば 、 つかさ と こなた は どういう きっかけで 仲良くなったのよ ？

Konata:
Tsukasa was about to be kidnapped by some big, suspicious foreign dude.
I just happened along, saw what was goin' down and jumped in!
I unloaded the Front Punch Whirlwind Kick combo attack on him and rescued her from that creep!
つかさ が 怪しい 外国人の 大男に 連れ去られそうに なっている ところに、私が ここぞと ばかりに 登場。
得意の 正拳突きと 旋風脚を 華麗に 放って救い出したんだよね。

about to →  まさに～しようとしている

dude → ヤツ

happen along → 通り掛かる

unload → "荷物を下ろす"という意味で使われるが、ここでは"技を解き放つ"(自分から技をおろす→解放する)というニュアンスだと思われる

whirlwhind → 旋風

creep → "床などを這う"という意味で使われるが、スラングで"キモイやつ"という意味があり、ここではそれが使われている

Kagami:
Why does everything you talk about revert back to gaming?
何故いつも 途中から ゲーム の 話に なるんだ。

revert back to → ～に逆戻りする

Konata:
Hey, I was just doin' what any other skilled martial artist would've done, you know?
まあ 実際格闘経験者の 腕を 振るったわけだよ。

ここの文は少し読みづらいかもしれないが下記の通りに解釈する。

他の卓越した格闘家がやったことを(what any other skilled martial artist would've done)、 私がやった(I was just doin')

Kagami:
I don't approve the use of hasty violence, but you did save her.
いきなり 暴力は どうかと 思うけど、いいとこ あるじゃない。

the use of → ～の利用

hasty → 早まった

did → saveを強調している

Tsukasa:
The thing is that the foreigner was just asking me for directions.
I couldn't understand what he was saying though and that's when Kona-chan came by.
ほんとうは 、 外国人さんに 道を 聞かれてたんだけど、
ちんぷんかんぷんで 困ってたところで こなちゃん が …

the thing is → ここでは"実を言うと"と訳す。the thing is はネイティブが使う口癖で、会話の中で無言にならないように会話を繋ぐときとかに使われる

come by → やってくる

Kagami:
Wait, that's no good!
How can you be so smug about it!
うわっ ！　 全然駄目じゃん ！
って 何勝ち誇ってんだっ ！

smug → "すました"、"気取った"という意味。なのでドヤ顔はsmug faceという

Konata:
Oh, that's right.
It's that time of year again, isn't it?
また この 時期が … 来てしまった …

Tsukasa:
What are you talking about?
何かあるの ？

Konata:
I just remembered that baseball season's starting soon.
いや 、 プロ 野球が 開幕した なって …

Tsukasa:
Oh, do you not like watching sports and stuff, Kona-chan?
I sort of figured you'd love watching sports because you're so athletic.
こなちゃん スポーツ 観戦とか 好きじゃないの ？
運動得意そうだし、
そういうの 好きそうに 見えるんだけど。

sort of → "まあまあ"、"多少"という意味。なのでI sort of figured は直訳すると"私は多少考えた"となるので、～だと思った、～のように見える　となる

athletic → 運動神経のよい

Konata:
If a game goes into extra innings, it's guaranteed to totally screw up the late-night programming schedule for anime!
Or even worse, they could end up canceling the broadcast for that night.
だって 、 延長して 後番組遅れるから、
深夜アニメ の 予約録画が 滅茶苦茶に なるし、
あまつさえ 番組自体も 潰れちゃう 事あるし。

go into → ～に入る

extra → 追加の

inning → 野球の回

screw up → 失敗する、へまをする

even worse → さらに悪いことに

broadcast → 放送

Tsukasa:
It sucks when something you like disappears, doesn't it?
好きな 物が 無くなっちゃうのって 嫌だよね。

It sucks → スラングで"最悪だ"の意味

Konata:
When do you eat the strawberry on top of a strawberry shortcake?
かがみ って 苺ショート の 苺って いつ 食べる ？

Kagami:
Why do you wanna know?
え ？　 なんで ？

wanna → want to

Konata:
I was just wondering if you like to save your favorites for last.
好きな 物は 、 最後まで とっておく タイプ かなぁーって。

Kagami:
I guess I save my favorite stuff for the last bite.
Although with strawberries, it depends.
確かに好物を 最後食べるけど、
苺は その 時によるわね。

Konata:
Beef tongue with green onions - you cook both sides?
じゃ 、 ねぎ タン 塩は 両面焼く？

Kagami:
Beef tongue with green onions?
Hmm. It cooks pretty fast, but I guess if you roast it on both sides, it'll get done quicker.
え ？　 ねぎ タン 塩？
もともと すぐ 焼けるけど 、両面焼けば なお 速いわね。

Konata:
You can't!
The green onions fall off.
駄目だよ 、 葱が 落ちるじゃん。

Kagami:
But you put the green onions on it after the meat's been cooked.
え ？　 葱は 肉が 焼けてから 載せるんじゃないの ？

Konata:
But if you do that, the onions won't get roasted.
そうすると 、 葱が 焼けないでしょう ？

Kagami:
But the green onions are just a topping, aren't they?
え 、 だって そもそも 葱は 薬味じゃないの ？

Konata:
Man, you just don't get it at all...
分かってないなあ …

get it → 分かる

Tsukasa:
Wait, maybe you can cook it both ways?
ま 、 まあ 　 どっちも ありなんじゃ …

Konata:
Oh, which end of a chocolate cornet is the head - is it the fat end or the skinny end?
あっ 、 チョココロネ の 頭って 太いほう 、 細いほう 、どっちだと 思う？

Kagami:
Hmm. The fat end?
ふむ …　 太い方？

Konata:
Wow, guess we agree on that.
あ 、 私と 一緒だ …

Kagami:
Uh, you are kidding!
え 、 マジ ？

you are kidding → "冗談でしょ？"という意味。kidは名詞だと"子供"などの意味となるが、動詞で使うときは"からかう"という意味で使える

Konata:
Okay, so which end do you eat first?
じゃ 、 どっちから 食べる ？

Kagami:
Hmm. Don't you tear off the thin end and dip it in the chocolate in the fat end?
ん …　 細い方をちぎって、
余ったチョコ を つけて 食べるんじゃないの ？

tear off → ちぎる

Konata:
Uh...
へ …

Kagami:
Hm.
うん。

Kagami:
Do you have any other friends besides us and the ones you have in video games?
あんた 、 私たち以外に リアル の 友達作った事あるの ？

Konata:
Oh, yeah. I used to have this really good friend back in junior high school.
中学の 時にすごく 仲の いい 友達が いたかな。

used to → "昔はよく～したものだ"という意味。反対に言えば、"今はそうでない"となる。

back in → ～の頃に

Kagami:
Oh, you actually had one.
へぇー 、 いたんだ。

Konata:
Yeah, but I haven't talked to her in a while.
I wonder what she's up to these days?
しばらく 連絡とってないけど 、 今何してんのかな？

be up to → "何をしているの？"という意味。暫く会っていない人に対して使われる。

他にも"～次第"という使われ方もよくされる。

(例) It's up to you (それはあなた次第)

Kagami:
Oh...

Konata:
You know, I remember in our junior high yearbook
she wrote that her big dream in life was to become a mage.
中学の 卒業文集の 夢の ところ は 魔法使いって 書いてたけど。

yearbook → 卒業アルバム

mage →　魔法使い

Kagami:
So she was a geek too!

結局類友かよ !!
